How to generate leads thru texting
Ok so you are in the car business now, wanting to sell cars. You need customers. What do you reach for immediately ? Not Craigslist ads, but rather you reach out to the people that you already know…already in your immediate circles. You can break your network down into two categories:
A. People that you know directly. Your direct network (real world and online world)
B. People that you don’t know directly, but are within your direct contact’s network …and so yours too, by association (ie. A friend of a friend, etc.). Your extended network (real world and online world)
~ Its helpful to get some good quality business cards and always keep a few with you~
Your contacts are people in the real world (family, work, school, church, organizations) as well as your online world which is you social media properties and communities (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc).
You may already be in the car business and have a group of customers already clamoring for one of your vehicles…then you are already ahead of the ball. However, for most of you reading this article…this is your first entry into the auto biz. So anyway, the first thing you do before you even buy your first vehicle, is go thru your phone contact list and start sending out texts.
“Hey, hiya doing ? How are you feeling today? I hope everything is great with you. I’m just reaching out to you to let you know .. I got cars for wholesale. Its my new business. Let me know if you came across anyone who needs a good used car 20-30% of retail. I can put a few dollars in your pocket too for the referral ”
Use those words and change them around so that it suits you. Spell out the benefits (30% off retail). If you send out a text like that (to all of your cellphone contacts), you are bound to get a few bites.
That little text will now reach nearly everyone in your immediate circles in the real world. Next, you want to think of any organization you belong to such as church, fraternity, business groups, etc. You can reach a few more as you move along in your daily travels with family, friends and colleagues…you hit them with your business card or casual remark “Hey you know I sell used cars now…30% off retail..I work from home”. Once you say that…they will ask more at that moment, or they will file it away in their mind for future reference. You feel it out. But the seed has been planted already.
Ok, so we covered the real word, so now lets look at your online world. First and foremost, do not spam your Facebook or Instagram account with a ton of crap about you selling cars. Do it once initially and every so often thereafter (once per month). Post your usual stuff and keep it moving. But social media helps us to connect with a very large network of people. If you have a Facebook account, or Instagram accounts…you can connect to thousands of people in your local area…just with an occasional post.
What you can do to further focus all of your social media contacts together is create a Facebook Fan Page and post your stuff there. Car related articles, new inventory that you get in, motivational stuff, light car humor, etc. This will help you keep all of your online people together and every now and then someone will pop up and say “hey, I need a car…do you have anything” …or “hey can you get me a Honda Accord for $5K or less?”
To take it one step further and reach more people on Facebook. you can join a few groups on Facebook for networking and post your ads there. I live in Atlanta Georgia, …so I am a member of 15 local “Atlanta Networking and Business” type groups. I just post my ads in there every so often. You can put a picture of a car and a few words about your auto buying service. You can join local groups for auto sales on facebook and just post up pics of your inventory.
Someone always knows someone…and thus you are connected to the world
